New Emphasis On Science Assemblies in 2012-2013 School Year

Used to magic shows and clowns and rope twirlers, schools readily embraced the new idea that a school assembly could be more than just an entertaining diversion. And, in truth, many of the school shows available back then were good shows (though a lot were not!), but they were just entertaining. They did little at all to advance the educational goals of schools.

When we introduced our first science assemblies in 1979, the concept was brand new. And quite novel. At the time we thought “Why not have a show that is fun and entertaining but also teaches kids and gets them excited about what they are supposed to be learning?” Well, no one could give us an answer to that. And they still cannot. For more than thirty years we have been educating kids through entertainment, and bringing subjects previously thought to be boring to exciting life. And in the process we have inspired generations of kids to see the excitement and fun in science. And that has been a blast! We have had a wonderful time with school shows about Chemistry, Physics, Light, Astronomy, Anatomy and so on. No, we have had a really wonderful time! And so have untold hundreds of thousands of kids. Maybe even millions by now!

In the 1980's we began offering Social Studies and History programs such as Lincoln, Twain and Martin Luther King. Later we added programs on the Environment and on Character Counts, Self Esteem and, most recently, the oh so important topic of Bullying. And these shows have shown that the success we enjoyed with science assemblies was not to be limited to just one field of education. Indeed, the methods used to entertain children in science worked just as well with other curriculum areas. But, of late, as we introduced more and more awesome shows in other fields, some of our science programs, though still great shows, were somewhat left behind. Well, no more!

For 2012-2013 Mobile Ed Productions is undertaking a renewed commitment to science in many of our

super cool shows!

Two of our stalwart science assemblies are being thoroughly reworked, redesigned, rebuilt and renewed for the coming school year, and boy are these going to be great!

Most state curriculum guidelines and standards have component portions dealing with both chemistry and with physical science. For next year we are offering completely new versions of Chemistry! It Really Matters! and Forces and Motion, thus offering new science assemblies in both these key areas of science.

Last year, as a casualty of the bad economy, the renowned Detroit Science Center finally succumbed to financial fact and closed it's doors. One of the losses involved in this closure was that of the exciting science shows that the Center offered in house to its visitors. Instrumental in the early creation and development of these great shows, Ms. Allen now joins the team at Mobile Ed, and will bring these two great new science assemblies to our clients beginning in the Fall of this year. We could not be happier to welcome such an energetic, dedicated and fun performer to our team! We are certain she is exactly the right person to assist us in bringing the excitement of real science to children all over the country! Welcome aboard, Renee!

Meantime, fans of our other programs need not fret. All our other great shows will still be available, including one or two other new things yet to be announced. So, if your assembly ideas include, say, a portable planetarium, we still have you covered. If you are in the market for a bullying assembly or a live animals program or a visit from Thomas Edison, you are likewise covered. In fact, our offerings now cover almost all elements of curriculum based study, so whatever your school assembly ideas, we can help!

But in the midst of all this, we are proud to be able to bring forth this new emphasis on science. Science assemblies are where we came from, and will always be part of our present and future. With these cool new science assemblies, and this awesome new performer, the future is looking pretty darn bright!
