By now, we would hope that most people have some awareness bullying in our schools and just how tragic the outcome often is. To raise awareness even more, each year in October we observe National Bullying Prevention Month. What started as a week of observance, founded in 2006 by Pacer's National Center For Bullying Prevention, the campaign has grown to occupy the entire month. Now coming up on it's eleventh year, the celebration truly it has an affect on the entire month and the entire year. And deservedly so. The scourge of bullying is preventable.

Today is an anniversary of an invasion that took place in Kentucky in 1862. Kentucky, of course, remained loyal to the Union during the Civil War, one of three “border states” (the other two being Missouri and Maryland) where slavery was legal and practiced before the war, but where the elected state governments did not vote to secede along with the rest of the South.

Mobile Ed has been producing school shows and school assemblies for a long time. More than thirty years to be exact. In that time we have sent our awesome shows into many cities and states across this great country. We now visit some 6000 schools a year in more than thirty states!

I was out of the office yesterday in the morning. I went over to Northwood Elementary School in Royal Oak, Michigan, because our program Stronger Than a Bully was performing there. Since Stronger Than a Bully started out on tour on the road this year, this was the first time I was to have an opportunity to catch a live presentation of this great new and important school show.

Just a refresher today to keep you up to speed on the comings and goings of some of our great school assembly performers. Seems like a lot of our best Midwest school show presenters were in other parts of the country in October, but they are all coming back to the Midwest in time for Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.

The good news is that Stronger Than a Bully, Mobile Ed’s highly anticipated new anti bullying program will be touring Texas this coming winter in January and February. This is a great new school assembly program, performed by a wonderful Mobile Ed presenter named Dave Mitchell, whom some of you will remember as our superb Ben Franklin!

Every year Mobile Ed tries to introduce new school assemblies for our client schools, either in the form of a totally brand new program or as a newly refurbished school assembly. And every year we have some clients who are disappointed when we withdraw from circulation an older school assembly program to make way for the new. But we also have many clients always asking for something new, and school assemblies do grow old with use. Sometimes they just need to be taken off the road for a season and freshened up a little.
