science assemblies super4 resized 600Everyone knows that Superman grew up in Smallville, USA. But he moved to Metropolis as an adult and that was/is his hometown. Now whether or not Metropolis, Illinois is THE Metropolis is a matter for comic book experts to argue over. But in the Illinois town they make no bones about being Superman's hometown! The local newspaper is called The Planet and there is a giant statue of the Man of Steel in front of the courthouse.

Awhile back, President Obama (then President elect Obama) had his picture taken in front of the famous man of steel. Many people have done so. So it is no coincidence that travels such as Mobile Ed school assembly performers, passing through Metropolis also pose to have their picture taken in the same way. And so it was that Jon Oliver, a long time veteran performer for Mobile Ed and also an avid science fiction buff, recently stopped for a photo op himself.

But here is where the coincidences begin to mount up.science assemblies super2 resized 600

Jon is a high caliber science assembly performer. He carries three different science programs, ranging from Chemistry! It Really Matters! to The Magic of Science and also Physics is Fun. Jon has performed science assemblies thousands and thousands of times over the last twenty some years, helping to create a love of science in generations of students.

But Jon and President Obama are on the same team when it comes to science! The President has made no secret of the value he places on teaching science to our children and on turning them on to the excitement it holds. science assemblies super3 resized 600In today's highly technological world, our nation's future depends upon it!
