Hands-On STEAM | Grades 3-8

Are you ready to become a race car designer?

STEAM Racers is a new hands-on educational experience produced and presented by Mobile Ed Productions.  In this 45-minute assembly, your students will each get to design and build their own model race car (similar to a pinewood derby car) - that they get to keep!  Then, they compete against their fellow students in a downhill dash to see whose car is the fastest!

Using the principles of engineering, physics and aesthetic design, kids in grades 3-8 will learn-by-doing through five phases of designing, building, and testing their car.  Then, once everyone's car is complete, they race.  Four at a time, down a 40 foot long metal track, their cars speed towards the finish gate!  Their placement and times are displayed for everyone to see...and then analyze in grade-appropriate ways, including averages and graphing.

STEAM Racers is a true STEAM experience, combining elements from across the curriculum into an unforgettable, hands-on lesson kids will want back year after year.

Introductory Testing Phase

STEAM Racers is a brand-new, ambitious program that we can't wait to bring to your school.  However, before we can release the program to the public it needs to be tested...and we need test groups.

We are offering this program to our most valued clients in a special introductory testing phase.  In it, you'll be able to have the STEAM Racers assembly for a special, reduced price.  It won't have all of the bells and whistles, but it will still include the core content.  Then, next year, when the finished program is ready, you'll be able to have it back at a discounted rate.  (If for some reason you don't want STEAM Racers, you may apply the discount to any other program we offer.)

Contact your regional manager at 800-433-7459 and ask how you can be a part of the testing group of the latest and greatest Mobile Ed assembly yet - STEAM Racers!

What is STEAM Education?

STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education is a nationwide initiative that creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. It is a synergestic approach to teaching the STEAM disciplines instead of isolating them as separate schools of thought.  It is the next logical step in what the STEM initiative began by incorporating art to bring the right-brain into traditional scientific thinking.

STEAM Education - Science - Mobile Ed Science
Experiment with aerodynamics, gravity, friction, and material sciences as you build your own model race car.

STEAM Education - Technology - Mobile Ed

Technology
Time the race using optical switches, then organize the data in a spreadsheet and upload it to an online leaderboard for everyone to see.

STEAM Education - Engineering - Mobile Ed Engineering
Not only will you use real tools to build your car, but you will understand how simple machines like the wheel and axle and the ramp work while experimenting with aerodynamics!

STEAM Education - Art - Mobile Ed

Art
Realize the connection between art and science through synergestic design and application.  Students will see how their aesthetic designs impact performance..and what makes a car stand out in a lineup.

STEAM Education - Math - Mobile Ed

Mathematics
Collect and analyze race times in different ways depending on the grade level.  Examples range from figuring out averages to graphing.
