“Blah! Science is boring!”

Ever heard that from a child? I have. In fact I have heard it many times. A lot of kids do not have any interest in learning about science and math.

A recent study in particular proved the point. In some Michigan schools, notably in Detroit, 4th and 8th grade students in 2009 saw the worst results in scores from among 17 urban districts taking the Trial Urban District Assessment in Science (2009). 80% of 8th graders were shown to lack even basic scientific understanding.

Now a more recent study conducted not just in Midwest schools but across the entire country did show a marked difference and a brighter picture. American students in 4th and 8th grade nationally showed distinct improvement since 1995. Good news! However, we also are told that, despite the improvement that we are now well behind various Asian nations such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Korea.

So there is a lot of work to do. Our future in the world depends upon our children excelling in science and math!midwest school assemblies

The thing is, it doesn’t have to be so hard! At Mobile Ed we have been performing science assemblies for more than 30 years. And let me tell you something... kids like science. Kids love science! Kids get excited by science! When, that is, science is presented as something exciting. Which is exactly what we do in numerous science assemblies Mobile Ed performs in Midwest schools, East Coast schools, West Coast schools, and schools all over the country. Whether it be our Chemistry science assembly or one of our two physical science assemblies, our Light science assembly or our portable planetarium, our forensic science assembly or a live animal natural science assembly when we do a science show in front of 300+ kids, those kids leave the room pumped up and wanting to learn more.

Science assemblies are a great way to get kids excited about science. Whether it is hearing the roar of a ram jet engine, or watching a flower freeze instantly upon contact with liquid nitrogen, puzzling over a memory technique or being dazzled by a laser, touching an animal from South America or feeling the blast of a controlled explosion, kids love science.

So whether you are a Midwest school or a school in Texas, a West Coast school or someone in Boston, if the students in your school are struggling with science, you might want to consider a science assembly. Your kids will thank you... and so will their test scores!midwest school assemblies
