School Assemblies In Chicago – Skokie Showdown!

Posted on Sun, Sep 1, 2013

chicago school assembliesWell, last week was very busy! Our phones were ringing off the hook and our email boxes were overflowing. Parents and teachers from schools all over the country scrambled to get on top of their school shows and assemblies for the school year that is just beginning. Whew!

To make things even more exciting, several of our staff were out of the home office in Michigan because they were in attendance at the annual Performers for Young Audiences Showcase in Skokie, Illinois on the North side of Chicago. The Skokie showcase has been around for years, giving parents and teachers ( an more than a few librarians!) a great chance to see and meet many, many different skilled and talented school assembly performers. The event is very well attended every year and this year was no exception! We spoke with countless awesome school representatives from all over the greater Chicago area and beyond. It was an awesome day! A lot of our clients were able to set up their shows and take advantage of some showcase specials we were offering.

Dick Buchholz, that old lion of natural science assemblies (Animals and the Environment and Reptiles are Cool), was holding court again as he often does, surrounded by snakes and other critters and a constant crowd of parents and a few awestruck youngsters. Also on hand was the amazing master of impersonation, Mr. Tom Swenson, who offers several of our living history characters such as Lincoln, Twain and Edison. Everyone had a great time!

If so, you had the opportunity to get a close up rundown on our great school shows. If not, don't despair. You have another chance!

In a short time we will be making that long trek across Michigan on I-94 to Chicago, this time to visit the other super cool school show showcase hosted by the Windy City. The Premier Showcase takes place on September 10, in the Oakbrook area of Chicago, at the Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn. It is going to be a really cool day. We will be there to meet and talk with everyone and help to get all your school shows set for the year. The rest is up to you! Stop by and say “Hi!”. We will have performers on hand, and show specials and giveaways. So, don't miss out.

See you on the 10th!
