This week I was out of the office, attending the Premier School Assembly Showcase in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. And what a time we had!

One of the toughest jobs for a school representative charged with picking school assemblies for a year is knowing what to pick. Sure, you can surf the web looking for choices, or browse through stacks of brochures. But how do you really know what is good?chicago school assemblies

Well, each Fall in the Chicago area schools are presented with not one but two great opportunities to not only meet performers and ask all manner of questions, but actually view pieces from their programs. Chicago, or rather Glen Ellyn and Skokie, are home to two amazing annual school assembly showcases. Late last month we attended the Performers For Young Audiences Showcase at the North Shore Center in Skokie and joined with over a hundred different performers in presenting our programs before representatives of some two hundred schools and libraries. Reuniting with old friends is always a blast, and meeting everyone who made the trip to locate the best shows for their schools was even better! And then this week, the twin event, The Premier School Assembly Showcase took place in Glen Ellyn. What a blast! Similar numbers of teachers and parents met with an equal number of performers and a grand time was had by all!

Though we communicate with many of our clients regularly by email and phone, there is no substitute for meeting all of you face to face. If you had the opportunity to attend we are sure you will agree.

The august and amazing don of the world of animals, Mr. Dick Buchholz, was on hand, as was master of impersonation Mr. Tom Swenson, this time in the guise of master American story teller Mark Twain. Both of them spent the day beguiling and entertaining those who stopped by our booth. And, be a little careful around Mr. Buchholz! Those are not artificial snakes crawling all over him. Those are real!

By the way, for all of you who entered our “Showcase school assembly giveaway” at either venue, be patient! The winner has been chosen and will be notified later this week. That lucky school will receive one of our awesome school shows absolutely free!

But everyone really came away a winner! Performers were able to show their stuff, and schools were able to compare and make educated choices. That is what makes these events so valuable!

We hope you were able to come by and say hello, but if not, well … we can still still talk on the phone, and there is always the opportunity to join us next year!

We hope to see you there!
