Celebrating 43 Years of Educational Entertainment!

The team at Mobile Ed Productions has just celebrated 43 years of serving schools and educators through “educational entertainment.” What started out as a way to make kids smile and engage while learning tough subjects has turned into an organization that allies with teachers of all subjects, all grade levels, and all locations to transform lesson plans into wildly fun adventures and mind-blowing presentations.

The Mobile Ed Story

The family-owned business began back in 1979 with Larry Thompson. As a school teacher and administrator in the Livonia Public Schools, Larry Thompson saw a need to make his school lessons more enjoyable for his students. Thompson, as seen in this photo, was also a televised magician known as Whoodini. After airing the show each morning, he’d run over to his classroom to start teaching. (Sometimes still in his costume!) After realizing there was a lack of easily accessible high-quality school assembly programs in the area, Larry Thompson founded Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. with his father-in-law, Norman Seay, in Redford, Michigan, to bring some magic to his classroom.

Thompson saw the importance of finding innovative ways to teach school subjects while meeting educational standards and requirements. Children are incredibly valuable, and nourishing their minds can support them in their academic and personal growth, now and in the future. Mobile Ed Productions’ goal from the beginning has been to “educate through entertainment” in order to serve our students and our teachers as best we can. The Mobile Ed team members make teachers’ lives a little easier and students’ lives a little more fun!

Here are some reasons we advocate for bringing the field trip to you. Assemblies:

  1. Engage students in appealing ways outside of their normal routine.
  2. Inform students about topics relevant to your curriculum.
  3. Create opportunities for students to step outside of their comfort zone.
  4. Provide new experiences not found inside the classroom.
  5. Give students access to cutting-edge technology.
  6. Motivate students to dig into learning.
  7. Allow students to think critically about information.
  8. Fosters a positive and exciting environment for learning.

Every classroom is different, so our team offers educators as much variety as possible in order to fit their needs. Mobile Ed Productions offers in-person and virtual assemblies for a variety of school subjects and meets state standards and curriculum requirements. The Mobile Ed Impact

Our organization began in Redford, Michigan, many years ago, but we are now a nationwide company with decades of experience. We’ve rightfully earned the trust and praise of thousands of schools. We’re not just loved by teachers; we’re loved by their students too! Here’s what Briar Elementary School in Warren, Michigan, had to say about one of our programs:

"Everyone loved this show from K - Adults. Teachers rated this as one of the best assemblies we've ever had. Children's imaginations were sparked and they did some awesome writing."
