Family Nights and Fundraisers You Need to Host This Year

Is it time to schedule a Family Night for your community? Mobile Ed participates in Family Nights each year to unite the community, raise funds, or invite families into your local schools and libraries.

Why Host One?

Depending on your goals, family nights can be both fun and educational. Students and families have a great time with the community while building social skills and learning a lesson or two. Family nights are also an effective way to support lower-income families by providing a meal, snacks, and activities for a fun-filled evening with their family members.

Mobile Ed emphasizes the importance of well-developed relationships between parents and teachers. Part of raising successful students is creating a solid parent/teacher relationship that helps support these students at school and home. Students whose parents are actively involved in their academic lives are proven to have:

  • Increased attendance
  • Better behavior
  • Better grades
  • More developed social skills

When schools invite the community into their school to host family nights throughout the year, they can foster meaningful relationships that help support our students, families, and community.

  • Art Show. The perfect time to invite families into your school is to display student work they're proud of. This builds students’ confidence and allows families to connect with their student’s academic progress.

  • STEAM Museum. Bring in STEAM-related activities for students to play with and learn from all day. Families have a blast completing challenges, using cutting-edge technology, making friends, and learning the principles of STEAM in the process.

  • Multicultural Show. Create a tighter-knit community by offering a multicultural show. Multicultural shows highlight several (or one) cultures and are filled with new experiences and new knowledge. You may consider including cultural foods, performances, and traditions that families can experience and learn about together.

  • Family Science Night. Science can be one of the most engaging and relevant subjects for young students, especially when it’s interactive and hands-on. Show families the excitement and importance of learning science by hosting an interactive science program

  • Carnival. Nothing brings families together like a game! Students and parents alike have a great time playing carnival games while parents connect with staff and students connect with new friends. This is a great idea for a fundraiser or simply as a family night out event. Don’t forget the carnival snacks!

  • Literacy Night. Literacy Nights show students that reading can be fun by hosting an event filled with books, story-telling, author talks, challenges, and smiles. They can also educate parents on how to support their student’s literacy needs. Mobile Ed recommends these programs for your literacy night.

  • 5K Run. Excitement and exercise all wrapped in one? Get families up and active with a 5K run (or walk) around your school or community. This works great as a fundraiser as well.

  • Chili Cook-Off. Bring families together with this classic American tradition. Nothing like some healthy (and delicious) competition to get families out into the community!

  • Wildlife Exploration Night. Education and entertainment? Say no more. That’s what we love at Mobile Ed. Give families the opportunity to learn about local and exotic wildlife with the Animals and the Environment assembly program

  • Crime Science Investigation. Get out the magnifying glasses! Families can use their science and problem-solving skills together to solve a case. These events tend to be highly engaging and can be readily combined with science lessons. For an impressive way to teach forensic science to students and families, Mobile Ed’s Crime Science Science program has you covered.
