Education Through Entertainment

Celebrating 45 Years of Educational Entertainment!

Posted on Thu, Mar 28, 2024

Mobile Ed Productions has educated and inspired over 16.5 million students since we debuted our first school assembly in 1979. This month, we are extremely proud to celebrate 45 years of providing educational assemblies to schools across the country. It's truly an honor to have served the generations of tomorrow in such a meaningful way for over four decades. Our team can't wait to continue this legacy of educational entertainment for many more years to come.

Michigan teacher Larry Thompson believed that students learned best when they experienced his lesson firsthand, so he founded Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. to “bring the field trip to you”. Mobile Ed is now the leading provider of school assemblies across the country and presents educational assemblies for thousands of schools annually.

Larry’s passion for education and his experiences in entertainment helped him find a unique niche in education. In fact, you may have heard of him before! Not only was Larry a teacher, but he was well known as the magician Mr. Whoodini on the TV program Bozo the Clown. After recording episodes each morning for Bozo the Clown, many spotted him teaching his students while still wearing his costume!

Today, Mobile Ed offers over 40 assemblies nationwide! Each of our programs teaches different curriculum requirements to students in relevant and engaging ways. We use costumes, hands-on activities, audience participation, and live demonstrations to capture students' attention and inspire them to be motivated learners.

Mobile Ed's top fan-favorite programs over the years are:

SkyDome Banner

SkyDome Planetarium (K-8)

The SkyDome Planetarium is the coolest way to help students visualize outer space. Tour through outer space inside of our portable planetarium. Filled with facts about space, students will be in awe when they step inside the dome. This show is a must-see for all students!

STEAM Museum Banner

STEAM Museum (K-6)

This show exposes students to different technologies that also show the relevance of science, technology, engineering, art, and math in the real world! This hands-on museum is set up right inside your gym and students have a blast as they explore each of our stations, learning new concepts and connecting with their peers. Students won’t stop talking about this one.

Magic of Science Banner

Magic of Science (K-6)

This program uses “magic” to teach students how amazing science can be when we take a closer look. Students and adults alike are amazed by this program as it introduces students to the relevancy (and magic) of science.

YAD Banner

Young Author’s Day (K-9)

There’s nothing out there like the Young Author’s Day program Mobile Ed offers. This workshop-style program brings a fresh new angle to teaching students about storytelling. Combining theater concepts with writing skills creates a unique experience that students don’t always have access to in their day-to-day schooling.

The Earth Dome Banner

Earth Dome (K-8)

The Earth Dome helps students learn about our planet from a new perspective. Students will tour inside and outside the Dome for a fascinating and educational experience that puts our home into perspective.

Our team works year-round to bring students school programs that are educational, engaging, and nothing less than exceptional. Our newest assembly, Quest for Kindness, was released in 2023 and is our most "adventurous" show yet! Quest for Kindness is the simplest way to teach students social-emotional skills and bullying-preventative methods for students ages K-5.
