Education Through Entertainment

Mobile Ed Productions: Who We Are

Posted on Mon, Aug 23, 2021

Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. has been the leader in education-based entertainment since 1979. Passionate about education in young students, our team aims to make learning interactive and engaging for students of all ages covering a variety of subjects. 42 years later, we are now serving educators across the nation via in-person and virtual educational assemblies.

Our Story

A school teacher and administrator in the Livonia Public Schools, Larry Thompson knew there was a need to make his school lessons more enjoyable for his students and saw a lack of assemblies available for schools. Thompson, as seen in this photo, was also a televised magician and sidekick to Bozo the Clown known as Mr. Whoodini. After airing the show each morning, he’d run over to his classroom to start teaching (sometimes still in his costume!). His students thought this was so cool! Larry Thompson founded Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. with his father-in-law, Norman Seay, in Redford, Michigan, back in 1979 to bring a little magic to his classroom.

Our Purpose

Thompson saw the importance of finding innovative ways to teach school subjects while meeting education standards and requirements. Our team longs to bring “education through entertainment” to your school as soon as possible to serve our country’s educators as best we can. Based on each school’s needs, the Mobile Ed team members make teachers’ lives a little easier and students’ lives a little more fun! Here are some reasons we advocate for bringing the field trip to you.

School Assembly Programs...

  1. Engage the students in appealing ways outside of their normal routine
  2. Inform students about topics relevant to your curriculum
  3. Create opportunities for students to step outside of their comfort zone
  4. Provide new experiences not found inside the classroom
  5. Give students access to cutting-edge technology
  6. Motivate students to dig into learning
  7. Allow students to think critically about information
  8. Fosters a positive and exciting environment for learning

Our Programs

We offer our educators in-person and virtual assemblies, and each one of our performers is heavily background-checked and is advanced in their skillset. Our large selection of assemblies is performed nationwide every day. Each of our offerings correlates with state standards to easily meet our educators’ needs. Many of our programs use state-of-the-art technology as well, including fascinating projections, 3D printing, and high-end robotics.

Our assemblies are affordable and accessible, and we provide a discount for booking your program early. We even give our customers 30 days to cancel/change their program date. See which assemblies are available in your state here

Our Impact

Though our organization began in Redford, Michigan, many years ago, we are now a nationwide company with years of experience. We’ve earned the trust and praise of thousands of schools. We’re not just loved by teachers, we’re loved by their students too! Here’s what Evergreen Elementary School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, had to say about our show:

"We loved this program! The kids were going crazy and the teachers said it was one of the best assemblies they've seen. It was great - Thank You!!!!!"
